TODD HUNTER RECEIVES HONORS FOR 81ST LEGISLATIVE SESSION
He Was A Key Player on Numerous Important Issues Facing Texas

As a leader on some of the major issues facing Texas, State Rep. Todd Hunter earned numerous honors and accolades from his peers and organizations for his work during the 81st Legislative Session.

As chair of the House Judiciary and Civil Jurisprudence Committee, Hunter helped lead efforts to improve Texas’ business climate and was a major player in windstorm legislation in his role on the House Insurance Committee.

In fact, Gov. Rick Perry called Hunter a “hero” of windstorm insurance legislation and numerous groups honored him for helping protect the Texas coast from unfair proposals that would have punished his constituents and other coastal residents. Additionally, Chairman Hunter was honored by Texas journalists for mediating tough negotiations on a journalist shield law and by one of the state’s top law enforcement associations for helping pass tough anti-crime legislation.

  • 81st Legislative Session Honor Roll - Texans for Lawsuit Reform for Rep. Hunter's "wise and courageous leadership" as the Chairman of the House Committee on Judiciary and Civil Jurisprudence.

  • Coastal Watchman Award- House Republican Caucus for Rep. Hunter's involvement in the passage of the Windstorm Legislation and protection of the Coast.

  • Dr. Windstorm - Designated as such by Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce for Rep. Hunter's involvement in the passage of Windstorm Legislation.

  • Dr. Windstorm - Designated as such by Calhoun County for Rep. Hunter's involvement in the passage of Windstorm Legislation. 

  • James Madison Award - Freedom of Information Foundation of Texas for  mediating and championing the successful passage of the "Texas Free Flow of Information Act"

  • National Commander's Award - The American GI Forum for Rep. Hunter's work in designating the third Wednesday of September as "Dr. Hector P. Garcia Day".

  • Resolution of Appreciation - The Port of Corpus Christi for the passage of Port of CC legislation

  • White Knight Award - Texans for Life Coalition for support of the "Ultrasound Bill"

  • Proclamation - Lipan Apache Tribe of Texas for Rep. Hunter's Resolution honoring them.

  • Certificate of Recognition - The American GI Forum of Texas. In recognition for Rep. Hunter's services and devotion to the welfare of the American GI Forum of Texas, Inc. and for his leadership and numerous contributions to their membership.
