Hurricane Emergency Resources

This week’s article provides emergency and recovery contact information and resources for the Coastal Bend in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. I hope this information is helpful in your road to recovery.

If you are still traveling, you can access information about road closures by visiting Drive Texas or call 1-800-452-9292. If you are in need of roadside assistance, please call 1-800-525-5555.

If you are in need of shelter, the American Red Cross has established several shelters across the state. To find an open shelter please visit American Red Cross. Texas State Parks are not charging anyone who is a hurricane evacuee, as well. You can find an open park by visiting Texas State Parks. Other local shelter locations include Tuloso Midway High School (2653 McKenzie Road, Corpus Christi, TX 78460) and Calallen High School (4001 Wildcat Dr, Corpus Christi, TX 78410).

To stay up to date on the conditions and availability of the local utilities and services please visit Nueces County, Tx and City of Corpus Christi/Harvey.

If you need help filing a personal insurance claim, contact the Texas Department of Insurance’s Consumer Help Line at 1-800-252-3439.In addition, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is offering to help in disaster recovery to those affected by Hurricane Harvey. Please visit FEMA. to apply for assistance or call 1-800-621-FEMA(3362).
