BEING PREPARED FOR HURRICANE SEASON CAN HELP KEEP YOUR FAMILY SAFE
The 2010 hurricane season officially began on June 1 and will end on November 30. It is during this time that the most tropical cyclones form in the Atlantic basin.
All four counties in District 32 – Aransas, Calhoun, San Patricio and Nueces – are included among the 14 Tier 1 counties along the Texas coast. That means they are the counties most likely to be endangered if a hurricane makes landfall.
Links and information on this page are meant to help District 32 and coastal residents know what action they can take to be prepared in case a hurricane approaches the coast. Being prepared can save lives and reduce damages to property during a hurricane.
Disaster Prevention should include:
- Developing A Family Plan
- Creating A Disaster Supply Kit
- Having A Place To Go
- Securing Your Home
- Having a Plan for Your Pet
We hope that these links will make it easier for you to develop the right plan to protect your families during this hurricane season. If you are asked to evacuate, you should do so immediately but your hurricane preparedness plan should also include action that will make you as safe as possible in your own home in case a hurricane makes landfall.
