Mardi Gras in the Coastal Bend

Throughout my different newsletters, I like to highlight different events that take place in the Coastal Bend. In this week’s article, I will be discussing two events, the Barefoot Mardi Gras Parade and Festival held on Padre Island, and the Port Aransas Mardi Gras Parade. Barefoot Mardi Gras was founded as a fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters and has grown into a staple event for the Coastal Bend since 2015.

Barefoot Mardi Gras will continue on February 7 with a Fat Friday Party at Mikel Mays at 6:30pm. Then, on February 12 will be an Art Contest and Reception at 5:30 pm. Later in the month, a parade will be held on February 22 starting at Whitecap Beach and ending at Balli Park. The Barefoot Mardi Gras parade will be fun for the whole family, filled with different parade floats that will make you feel like you have stepped onto Bourbon Street with a taste of the beach. Following the parade, there will be a Mardi Gras Festival all day, at Balli Park. So, after you watch all the parade floats head on over to the festival for live music, food, drinks, and even a kid’s fun zone! The festival will also include a variety of artists, float displays, exhibitors. Finally, on February 25 there will be the King & Queens Ball at 7 pm at Waves Resort.

The Barefoot Mardi Gras Parade and Festival is a great way to enjoy the Coastal Bend with a truly unique experience. We are excited to see Corpus Christi host such an amazing and successful event every year. For information on the festival, visit Barefoot Mardi Gras.

Port Aransas will also host a Mardi Gras Parade on February 25 at 5pm. The parade will start at the corner of Beach and Station in front of the Gaff Bar. For more information about the parade or more events happening in Port Aransas, visit Port Aransas & Mustang Island.
