House Republican Caucus Honors Rep. Todd Hunter
with Coastal Watchman Award

Austin, TX – Announced this afternoon, Representative Todd Hunter was awarded the Texas House Republican Caucus’ Coastal Watchman Award for his focus on protecting the needs of the coast during the 81st legislative session.

“I am honored that the Republican Caucus has chosen me for the Coastal Watchman Award. My top priority is promoting legislation that protects the economy of the Texas coast. In Texas, a strong coast makes for a strong state,” stated Hunter.

Rep. Hunter served as a conference committee conferee on House Bill 4409 which eases previous funding restrictions on Texas Windstorm Insurance and provides much needed reforms to the program. He effectively utilized his position on the House Insurance Committee and worked closely with this legislation throughout session to protect coastal residents from unfair and unaffordable windstorm insurance.

Rep. Hunter also passed legislation to give statutory existence to the Texas Coastal Ocean Observation Network (TCOON), and authored a bill to help coastal ports and waterways.

“Rep. Hunter remains dedicated to the needs of the Coast. His knowledge and insights were crucial in drafting the Texas Windstorm legislation. This honor is well deserved and the people of district 32 should take pride in their State Representative,” said House Republican Caucus Chair Larry Taylor.
