Corpus Christi, Texas – The issue of education and workforce training has risen to one of statewide importance according to a group of education and business associations. They are working with State Rep. Todd Hunter (R-Corpus Christi) to host an Education Workforce Conference that will be broadcast via the statewide network of Education Service Centers.

The conference will be held in Corpus Christi on Friday, Feb 15 from 11 am to 2 pm for those who want to attend the conference in person and broadcast live to those in other parts of the state.
There is a growing coalition of like minded organizations who are all pursuing the same goals set out by the Education Workforce Task Force that was formed by Hunter following a public education – higher education summit held last fall.
Joining Hunter’s Education Workforce Task Force in hosting the conference are several statewide associations including:

– Education Service Center Region 2
– Texas Association of Manufacturers
– Texas Association of School Administrators
– Texas Association of School Boards
– Texas Chemical Council
– Texas School Alliance
– Texas System of Education Service Centers

“The momentum on education and workforce training is growing around the state,” said Hunter who is also chairman of the Calendars Committee. “I am working to make sure that our regional efforts are coordinated with other efforts across the state so that the citizens of South Texas have the education and training for the growing economy in the state.”
This is the first of several conferences that broad based coalition intends to hold to keep all organizations and their members informed and update to date on legislative efforts to support public education, higher education and workforce training.
Three panel discussions are being planned in education, business and workforce development.
The conference is free but registration is required.
