Texas Senate committee votes yes to cruise ship study
CORPUS CHRISTI – A proposed resolution to study whether docking cruise ships in Corpus Christi is a viable economic opportunity sailed through a Senate committee hearing on Monday. State Sen. Juan “Chuy” Hinojosa, D-McAllen, announced the Senate Committee on International Relations and Trade voted unanimously to send Senate Concurrent Resolution 5 to the Senate Local & Uncontested Calendar, clearing the way for a vote as early as March 17. A similar resolution proposed by Rep. Todd Hunter, R-Corpus Christi, would be superseded should Hinojosa’s resolution pass the Senate and later the House.
